The DataPortability Project, in line with our principles, has developed the following governance model.

  • Action groups have specific responsibilities. Members of an action group make the final decisions from matters owned by that group
  • Action groups are to make decisions by deadline or consensus. A motion is to be proposed with a decision deadline, and the majority vote is to be the action groups decision. Where possible, members are to discuss until consensus is met, whereby the deadline can be brought forward
  • Leaders of an action group are not appointed, but emerge based on their own accord. Whilst there will be no one official leader, people will take ownership in specific roles.

Elias -

Sounds like reasonable thinking in line with our discussion in the Steering Group.  I'm sure there are some nuances worth niggling a bit, though.

To that end, I'd prefer to see this discussion happen in Groups rather than Confluence.  IMO, it's a wider, more transparent platform for discussion.

My $0.02,
Trent
