Proposed Meeting Topics:

As of Sunday July 20th the attendee RSVP is a small group (probably because i have been away and did not properly advertise this meet-up). Since we have not met up locally for a bit, this will give us a change to catch up. If you are a new local Data Portability member, please come meet us!

Possible discussion topics (please add more):

- Steering Group Final group selection

- Conference and Speaking engagement opportunities

-  Discussion of Data Portability news that has occurred over the last few months and what it means (Services that are implementing Data Portability principles, organizations that are also pushing for Data Portability, etc.)

Attendees:

  • Phil Wolff - Skype Journal, DataPortability Steering Committee
  • Daniela Barbosa- Dow Jones, DataPortability Steering Committee
  • Trent Adam- Matchmine, DataPortability Steering Committe
  • Joe Andrieu- SwitchBook
  • Hasan Diwan -
  • James Downs- Zivity
  • and some dude who is working kink.com (we must be doing something right to attract this kind of talent)

Notes:

The meet-up was small an in an informal place (although it worked out well!) because Daniela had been on vacation and forgot to announce where the meetup up was.  (sorry)

We discussed what we wanted to ideally see as '5 month goals' for the DataPortability project:

  • Resources for small and medium vendors to understand data portability concepts, master data portability practices, and implement data portability well.
  • Resources for users for policy - a la creative commons, licensing of data, rights, ownership
  • Vision creation and evangelism. Demand generation. Creating popular outcry for data portability
  • Technology Matrix in operation and useful. Score Card.
  • Active volunteers numbering more than 100.
  • Finalize the Legal entity and Incorporate.

It was nice to see some new faces and some out-of-towners as well.

Thank you all you attended (PLEASE feel free to add notes/thoughts here as well)
