  News from June, 2008

Hey, everyone else is blogging about the new iPhone this week.

In fact, the Apple Push Notification Service coming in Fall 2008 seems to work like half of a synchronization utility: from third party servers through an Apple server to phones. Data portabliity really calls for a sync architecture to be both bidirectional (to enable backup, for instance) and p2p (in this case that's phone to phone). Sync services help keep identity and other onlife data consistent across sites.

What role do you think data portability values should play in smart phone architecture?

The May DataPortability Project Report has been published. It is a couple days late since I was working on the new format and I have been on the road- but hopefully you will like the new format and we can continuously build on these monthly reports that serve not only active DataPortability Project members but also users, vendors and developers who want to be kept informed on the progress of the project.

May's report comes in two formats PDF and HTML:

May 2008 Volume 1 No. 5 (PDF)

May 2008 Volume 1 No.5 (HTML)

Feedback? Please leave it in the comments area of this post or send me a note at danielavbarbosa@gmail.com. We constantly aim to make the monthly report bigger and better- so all comments are taken seriously. thanks!
